In the second half of September, the EU Food Safety Project carried out a follow-up mission focused on engaging the TCc stakeholders in promoting the responsible use of veterinary medicinal products (VMPs) in food-producing animals.
During this mission, our experts visited veterinary clinics, feed factories, and farms. Meetings were also held with representatives of the union of veterinary doctors and other key stakeholders.
Together, we discussed ways to:
🐄 Reduce the use of veterinary medicines where possible
🥩 Minimise residues in food products
🧫 Combat antimicrobial resistance
The experts discussed with the beneficiaries the use of veterinary medicines in food-producing animals, including the implementation of the related instructions and developed checklists and forms, the procedures and practices applied. The discussions covered control measures for farms, veterinarians, pharmacies, and distributors — as well as how to address imported and online sales of VMPs.
By working hand in hand with local partners, the project continues to strengthen food safety, animal health, and public health protection.
